The deal represents a significant departure from the 2009 US-UAE agreement, which required the UAE to forgo any domestic enrichment or reprocessing capabilities. This cooperation supports Saudi Arabia’s energy diversification strategy under Vision 2030 amid growing domestic electricity demand.
