Japan’s JCB Taps Circle to Explore Stablecoin Payments for Cross‑Border and Merchant Transactions

JCB, Japan’s largest card network, signed a memorandum of understanding with Circle to explore USDC payments in the country. The alliance targets cross-border treasury operations, remittances and merchant payments for JCB’s 40 million merchants. The agreement is framed within Japan’s regulatory advances that open the market to mass adoption of stablecoins in everyday commerce.
