Stan Kroenke has become America’s largest private landowner with 2.7 million acres, equivalent to about 2 million football fields and larger than Yosemite National Park. The billionaire acquired the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno, with the transaction expected to close in the first quarter of 2027. Kroenke notably purchased 937,000 acres of ranchland from the Singleton family in December, the largest land purchase in the U.S. in more than a decade. U.S. farmland has become a $4.3 trillion asset class as wealthy investors use it as a hedge against inflation. Family farms now struggle to compete with deep-pocketed investors like Kroenke for land acquisition.
